Price index of steam coal has been calibrated downwards by 2%

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources of Indonesia released its HBA price reference for steam coal adjusted downwards by 2.4% (m-o-m) to be presently set at $51.20/t (–16.2% (y-o-y)).

The HBA index for steam coal (also known as Harga Batubara Acuan) is the basis for valuating corresponding prices of 73 Indonesian coal products and for calculating the royalties, local mining companies are to pay for each metric tonne of coal traded either on-site, or destined for export. The index is calculated for 6,322 kcal/kg GAR coal, with 8% total moisture content, as well as 15% ash, and 0.8% Sulfur.
