Through January-November of last year, the export volume of ferrous metals reached 19.7 million metric tons with the total value of 6.6 billion US dollars (all products are in the category of HS 72 group). The volume of exports went up 2.1% year-on-year, however, sales stumbled 11.7% (y-o-y). Export of finished steel rolled products in January-November, 2016 has reached almost 9 million metric tons taking a hike of 7.3%, semi-finished products were up by 2.9% but exports of iron ore and metallurgical raw materials stumbled by 11%.
The biggest change in the export destination of Ukrainian ferrous metals has been observed in the Middle East markets as the country lost the 32% share of the goods that were shipped to that part of the World in January-November, 2015 to 28% in 2016 (y-o-y).
Ukraine, in the same time, imported 1 million metric tons of metal goods totaling roughly 733 million US dollars.
