During January-July, 2017, Ukraine has exported 11’000 tons of potatoes worth 2.69 million US dollars which is two times more than for the whole 2016 year (5’000 tons worth 1.3 million).

According to preliminary estimates, in 2017 Ukraine will produce 20.5 million tons of potatoes and it is expected that the domestic consumption will reach 6.3 million tons, thus increase in exports will not in any way affect the supply of the national market.
The main buyer in 2017 is Belarus the same as in 2016 purchasing 10’000 tons for the total of 2.58 million US dollars; Moldova imported 600 tons worth $61’100.
In the reviewed period of 2017, Ukraine imported 3’800 tons of potatoes for two million US dollars. Primarily, Ukraine bought 2’200 tons for 1.5 million of planting potatoes, out of which, 1’300 tons for $811’000 from the Netherlands and 840 tons for $604’000 from Germany.
