Gnidava sugar-beet mill situated in Volhynia (north-west part of Ukraine) will be producing organic sugar and ship it to the European market, according to the information of the Press Service of the plant.
Gnidava sugar-beet mill will process the sugar-beet grown by the agricultural company Ritter Bio Agro which is owned by German investors and which has been producing eco-friendly goods for five years and supplying the European market with products grown without the use of fertilizers and crop protecting agents.
It is recognized that the crop yield of organic sugar-beet of the company Ritter Bio Agro is times less than the conventionally grown one but the sugar processed from it in Europe is times more expensive and goes for 1’300 Euro compared to 350 Euro for the traditional sugar.
According to the information of the Ritter Bio Agro: “for this year 50 hectares of organic sugar-beet has been planted, for next year 300 hectares will be given for organic sugar-beet and for the following year 500 hectares are foreseen to be given for growing organic sugar-beet. Gnidava sugar-beet mill was chosen to be the first plant to process the eco-friendly sugar-beet in Ukraine”.
