According to recent reports of the association of enterprises Ukrmetalurgprom in October 2017 Iron and Steel industry of Ukraine has produced: 1.8 million tons of pig iron or 97% compared to September 2017; 1.9 million tons of steel or 98%; 1.7 million tons of rolling-mill products or 102%.
As of the end of October the output capacity of the production is: 18 out of 28 blast furnaces or 64% are in operation; 8 out of 9 open-hearth furnaces or 89%; 14 out of 21 basic oxygen furnaces or 67%; 7 out of 15 all-electric furnaces or 47%; and 12 out of 18 continuous casting machines or 67%.
In the 10 months of 2017 the enterprises of the Mining and Metals Industry of Ukraine has produced: 16.4 million tons of pig iron or 83% compared to 2016 respectively; 17.7 million tons of steel or 87%; 15.2 million tons of or 85% (including the production output for January-February 2017 in the uncontrolled territories).
The preliminary estimates suggest that in 2017: 19.7 million tons of pig iron will be produced or 84% compared to 2016; 21.2 million tons of steel or 87%; and 18.2 million tons of rolling-mill products will be manufactured or 85%.
The decrease in the output of the main products in the 10 months of 2017 is the direct consequences of the loss of a part of production capacities in the uncontrolled territories as well as untimely and not in full delivery of raw materials to the enterprises by the rail-road operator Ukrzaliznitsa.
