In October 2017 the main method of steel production is oxygen-blown process accounting for 71.7% or 1.36 million tons out of the total of 1.896 million tons. The second place is held by the method of open-hearth process 22.12% or 0.419 million tons; and 0.117 million tons or 6.18% has been produced by electric arc furnaces.
If we compare October with the 10 months of 2017 we will see the same picture, out of the total steel production of 17.7 million 12.3 million or 69.9% is cast using the oxygen-blown process; 4.1 million tons or 23.21% by the open-hearth process; and 1.32 million tons or 7.49% by electric arc furnaces.
In October as well as for the 10 months of 2017 more than half of steel produced is continuously cast or 54.34% in October and 52.26% for the 10 months of 2017.
Note. Ukraine is one of the two countries in the world that use the open-hearth process or using the Siemens-Martin furnaces, the second one is Russian Federation.
