From the beginning of the year, the Ukrainian Gas Transportation System (GTS) operated by SC “Ukrtransgaz” transmitted 61.95 bcm of natural gas to the European countries, which is 23.4% more than in 2016 respectively, this is the maximum volume since 2011.
According to the information of the Central dispatcher department, the import of natural gas from EU in the last 8 months increased by 95.8% and reached 9.4 bcm. This year gas delivery from the Slovak direction was 7.1 bcm, from the Hungarian direction – 1.5 bcm, Polish -0.8 bcm. It is worth stressing, that Ukraine does not import natural gas for domestic use from Russia since 2015.
In 2017 Ukrtransgaz has pumped-in 7 bcm to the subsurface gas reservoirs which is 71% more compared to the relevant period last year. Up to date, the Ukrainian subsurface gas reservoirs are storing 14.8 bcm of natural gas.
From the beginning of May this year, offtake of natural gas from the gas reservoirs has not been made, as of September 1, 2017, offtake of gas from storage is on the level of 4.1 bcm, 26.7% less compared to the first eight months of last year.
As to the current data from the operator of the national GTS, the production of natural gas in Ukraine in the last eight months of this year has gone up by 3% and reached 13.8 bcm and the consumption is 0.5% down to 17.9 bcm.
