Cost of MDF & HDF boards in Germany took a slight dip

A couple of months in a row the market of wood-based boards (MDF/HDF) in Germany is declining. The manufacturers are struggling to reach the sales level, thus, profit level they had in the middle of 2016 even though some of the MDF products enjoyed strong demand.

Right after the New Year Germany was hit with low temperatures in addition to the season drop in construction, the rise in prices for raw materials and a price dip for finished products the MDF manufacturers incurred financial losses which in some cases led to the reduction of production.

The manufacturers and sellers are sure that these difficulties are temporary. In the coming months, the exporters are expecting to build up supplies to the North American market. Currently, laminated flooring (HDF) is still in high demand in the region and, moreover, not losing in price. In particular,   import of HDF boards to the US is backed by steady growth in the construction sector of the economy, thus, should stimulate the European markets and generate additional currency revenue.
