For the current week, prices for steel scrap from the USA have been increasing, but the growth rate turned out to be somewhat lower than it had been stated before.
According to market operators, prices for American steel scrap HMS 1&2 (80:20) have risen on the background of vigorous purchases on the part of Turkish plants. Shiploads of raw materials for September delivery have gone up by US $ 5 per tonne and reached a point of $232-235 per tonne, CIF. At the same time, the pricing proposals of similar European steel scrap have been slightly higher, and some supplies were carried out over the range of $235-237 per tonne, CIF. According to suppliers, scrap prices for Turkish consumers will most likely continue to grow. They are expected to reach a level of $240-245 per tonne, CIF.
