On November 30 an IFRS conference has been held

The State Enterprise “Derzhzovnishinform” and the Chamber of Auditors and Accountants of Ukraine, in partnership with the “De Vizu” group of companies, held the conference “International Financial Reporting Standards: Implementation Practices and Challenges” in Kiev, in the Park Hotel Goloseevo.

The event was attended by professionals from leading Ukrainian companies to discuss a set of issues related to the transition to international reporting standards.

Bogdan Dubas, Director of State Enterprise “Goszovnishinform” and Oleksandr Boyko, President of the Chamber of Auditors and Accountants of Ukraine, the President of the group of companies “De Vizu” addressed the participants of the conference with opening words.

Moderator of the event was Elena Kharlamova, Director General of the Agency for IFRS, the Partner of the group of companies “De Vizu”, which not only ran organized exchange of opinions during the conference, but also gave insights on how to solve some complex issues that the top management needs to know when transitioning to the reporting system according to IFRS.

Roman Kropivnitsky, Director of the Department of Management of State Property of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, was the first to deliver the presentation: “IFRS and Financial Planning of State Enterprises: Important Features”.

Representatives of the Department for the systematization and analysis of financial statements of securities and issuers and prudential oversight of the National Securities and Stock Market Commission focused on IFRS taxonomy and the XBRL reporting format.

Yana Oliynyk, PhD, Chief Scientist of the Department of Accounting Methodology of the NDFI of the Academy of Financial Management, Professor of the Vadym Hetman KNEU School of Economics and Business Administration, drew the attention of the audience to the introduction of non-financial reporting in Ukraine, in particular, the report on payments to the benefit of the state.

“The role and place of IFRS in communicating with an investor and attracting investment” – Mykola Osiychuk, Executive Director of UkraneInvest, disclosed this topic.

Natalia Konovalenko, Coordinator of the Regional Program for Strengthening Audit and Accountability in the Eastern Partnership (STAREP), World Bank Financial Management Consultant, delivered a presentation entitled “Prospects for Electronic IFRS-Reporting in Ukraine: Global Trends and Initiatives”.

Olga Pilipenko, Deputy chief accountant of NAEK Energoatom, described how to apply the best practice of transition to IFRS, based on the experience of the company.

Deputy Chief Accountant for Taxation of the State Enterprise “Administration of the Seaport of Ukraine”, Alexander Voytsikh shared what to expect from the consequences and how to avoid risks in the transition to IFRS, and illustrated the report with examples from his own experience.

“What opportunities do IFRS provide for legal optimization of income tax?” – Yuriy Tsyganok, Head of the Accounting Expertise Center, a member of public councils at the Ministry of Finance and DFS of Ukraine, highlighted this question.

Andriy Bogolyuk, Licensed Appraiser, Director of the Evaluation Company “De Vizu”, reported on the topic: “Fair value of assets as a prerequisite for qualitative transformation and transition to IFRS.”

“Automation of the Transformation of Financial Reporting” – this was Dmitry Tkachenko report, director of CaseWare Ukraine, who not only talked about but also showed how to use special financial software.

Typical mistakes when switching to IFRS. Experts advise. What to pay attention to? Answers to these questions were raised in the closing part of the conference.

The event participants noted the high expertise and proficiency of the speakers, as well as the excellent organization of the conference.
