Additional trade preferences for Ukraine from EU shall come into force on October 1, 2017

On September 13 in Strasbourg, the decision has been signed to provide Ukraine with additional trade preferences for three years, informed Nataliia Mykolska Commercial Representative and the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine.

 

The corresponding legal act stipulates full import liberalization for some Ukrainian goods such as footwear, products from copper and aluminum, and certain electronics.

 

According to Nataliia Mykolska, the signed Regulation grants additional quotas with zero import duties for 2.5 thousand tons of Ukrainian honey, for 650 thousand tons of corn and corn flour, for 350 thousand tons of barley and barley flour, for 65 thousand tons of wheat and flour. Apart from this, an extra quota is given for 7.8 thousand tons of barley cereals, for 4 thousand tons of oat, for  3 thousand tons of processed tomatoes, and for 500 tons of grape juice.

 

It is expected, that the Regulation will come into force on October 1, 2017, and the part that grants quotas for grains will be effective from January 1, 2018, as it needs to go through a separate implementation procedure of the European Commission.
