First transit through Ukraine in route of the new Silk Road can commence till the end of the year

First transit of goods through the territory of Ukraine as the new route of the Silk Road can commence at the end of the year or in the beginning of the next. This information has been revealed by Vadim Mosiychuk the Chairman of the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine, as of now, the new route has been approved by the Chinese as it is foreseen the train track will start in Zhengzhou and via Ukraine make the final stop either in Slovakia, or Poland, or Hungary.

“This is a good start of a big and important project for Ukraine and it is only the first stage. Now we are only talking about transit volumes of goods via Ukrainian territory but later it should transform into the export route for Ukrainian food products to China”, the Chairman of the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine said.

Vadim Mosiychuk has mentioned that there are a lot of issues that are to be solved before the project will run full strength but with the support from the cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine work with the Chinese side will reach a new level. At this point in time the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine in close cooperation with the Ministry of Infrastructure I setting the exact tracks the trains are going to be going. As of now with the assistance from the Ministry, the Chinese experts have visited the stations Chop and Mostitskay and could have made the evaluation of the capacity and benefits. Before the project reaches full strength the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine is preparing to show the facilities that could be used as it operates agro storage and processing capacities; has seven diversified logistics centers. The Chinese side has expressed definite interest in importing quality Ukrainian food such as flour, confectionery, butter etc.

“Four years ago Chinese have launched the first transit train to the city Brest and further on to Warsaw and Germany and then later Belarus products started to be exported to China. As of today, it is a big scale project between Belarus and China that led to the overload of the Brest direction. All the goods along the Silk Road where bypassing Ukraine the time has come and there is a possibility to change this situation”, summarized Vadim Mosiychuk.

It is worth noting, that in July of this year State Reserve Agency of Ukraine has informed about the interest of the PRC in shipments of Ukrainian goods and to include the country in the project of the Silk Road. It is envisaged that the logistics side of the project will be handled by the State Reserve Agency of Ukraine. Then an official visit to Zhengzhou of the province Henan was organized which resulted in the signing of the Memorandum of Intent setting the outstanding issues that are to be met.
