Ukraine and UAE to intensify practical interaction on a number of strategic areas of cooperation

During the working visit to the United Arab Emirates, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko met with Vice President, Prime Minister, Minister of Defence of the United Arab Emirates, ruler of the Emirate of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

The Head of State underscored traditionally friendly nature of relations between Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates and expressed hope that UAE would support the initiatives of Ukraine in the framework of international organizations aimed at protecting its sovereignty and restoring territorial integrity.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum reaffirmed that the United Arab Emirates supported the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders. An agreement was also reached as to the support of the Crimean Tatars by UAE.

Petro Poroshenko and Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum noted a significant potential for intensifying practical interaction in a number of strategic areas of cooperation, such as energy, aircraft engineering, space research, military and technical cooperation.

During the meeting, the issue of preparing the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Ukrainian-Emirate Commission on trade and economic cooperation that is planned to be held in Kyiv has been discussed.

The parties welcomed the agreement reached on the mutual termination of visa requirements for citizens of Ukraine and the United Arab Emirates. The President of Ukraine noted the relevance of further improvement of air communication between the two countries, taking into account the expansion of various bilateral contacts.

Petro Poroshenko invited Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum to visit Ukraine.
